Who we are!!!!
The Tri-City Historical Society was founded in 2018, with a clear purpose: to preserve, interpret, and share the rich history of the communities of New Kensington, Arnold, Lower Burrell, and Upper Burrell. Established by a dedicated group of local historians, educators, and community members, the Society was created in response to a growing need to protect the region’s historic artifacts, stories, and cultural legacy during a time of significant economic and social change.

From its earliest days, the Society has served as a steward of the area’s heritage—collecting photographs, documents, oral histories, and artifacts that tell the story of a region shaped by industry, immigration, innovation, and community pride. The Tri-City area played a vital role in Western Pennsylvania’s industrial rise, particularly through glass manufacturing, aluminum production, railroads, and river commerce. The Society works to ensure that these stories—and the people behind them—are preserved for future generations.

Today, the Tri-City Historical Society continues to grow as both a historical resource and a community anchor. Through exhibitions, educational programs, public events, and archival preservation, the Society connects residents and visitors to the shared heritage of the Alle-Kiski Valley. By fostering appreciation for the past, the Society strengthens community identity and inspires future generations to value and protect their local history.
